Why another blog about Art Collecting? I am hoping to provide a unique voice, unlike many art dealers; I am both a dealer and a collector, so I hope to be able to provide information from both sides. As for mysef, I have over 25 years of experience collecting art and I have been an art dealer for over 20 years. While working at the Gallery I have been asked so many times to provide talks or set up discussion groups about different aspects of art, and so now I finally giving in to the demand with what I hope will be a fun and exciting experience. This blog is going to provide a forum for various aspects of art collecting; however since my interest is 20th century modern, the vast majority of my posts will deal with that time frame and with those artists. Although I feel sure the blog will morph over time based on my evolving interests, at the outset my goal is to provide information dealing with the following subjects:
1) Writing specifically about individual works of art either owned by myself or being offered for sale through the Gallery.
2) Discuss the overall concept of art collecting, dealing with the initial establishment of a cohesive collection paying particular attention to aesthetics as well as costs.
3) Follow and cover current trends, shows, auctions, news, events, discussions, etc. surrounding the global art market.
4) Use photographs, video, audio, external links, etc. to hopefully provide a greater sensory expression for each post.
